Τετάρτη 15/09/2010 - Investigating Reactive Power Management of Mixed-Technology Wind Farms Using Modeling and Simulation

Toσεμινάριο θα μεταδοθεί ζωντανά μέσω internetστις 12.00 π.μ.

With wind turbine technology dominating the renewable energy installation base across the world, methods to effectively investigate the operation and management of assets within a wind farm, to ensure both economic operation and quality of supply, are of increasing importance.

In this webinar, MathWorks engineers will demonstrate how modeling and simulation allows effective investigation of reactive power management within the context of a mixed-technology wind farm. The technologies considered are a mix of squirrel-cage and DFIG wind turbines, with reactive power capability provided through the DFIG rotor-side converters and a STATCOM. The aim of the reactive power management system is to regulate reactive power at the grid point-of-connection (POC) to zero, reduce voltage flicker, and suitably manage the available capacity on the sources of reactive power.

The demonstration will consider model abstraction techniques to improve simulation speed, including the use of average-value power-electronic converters and aggregated wind turbine representations. Further speed advantage is realized through the use of parallel computing, allowing the results of multiple scenarios to be returned in a time-effective manner.

Πέμπτη 23/09/2010  -  Mixed-Signal Series: A Coherent Design Flow

In this webinar we demonstrate how engineers can build a coherent design flow for mixed-signal design. We illustrate this through demonstrations and case studies from industry. The webinar shows how different design stages and different engineering disciplines can be linked by the use of system-level design techniques to produce a coherent design flow. A coherent design flow enables errors to be detected much earlier in the design process, and the webinar will explain how this works. The webinar will also explain how engineers can take advantage of the productivity gains of system-level design, while still using their existing design – getting the best of both worlds.

This is the fourth and final webinar in a four-part series on mixed-signal design. It brings together the techniques demonstrated in earlier webinars, but it can be viewed without having seen the others in the series. At the end of the webinar, there will be a short question and answer session.
